For you
A place to talk, without being hurried.
Adult counselling with Catherine Lawson in East Lancashire. Sessions last 60 minutes. We can start with a free assessment call.
What counselling can be
People come for many reasons: feeling stuck, anxious or low; a relationship that is hard to carry; something from the past that will not settle; or a sense that life has become too much to hold alone.
You do not need a neat story, a diagnosis, or the right language. We start with whatever you can say, and we find a pace that feels possible.
How sessions work
Counselling sessions are 60 minutes and cost £55. Appointments are Monday to Wednesday 9:30am to 7:30pm, and Thursday 9:30am to 12:30pm. Online sessions are available via Teams.
The work is person-centred. CBT or EMDR can be part of it if that seems useful — we would talk about that together, not spring it on you.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process traumatic or distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. EMDR uses gentle bilateral stimulation — such as eye movements or tapping — to support the brain in reprocessing memories that have become "stuck." Over time, these memories lose their emotional intensity, allowing you to feel calmer, more grounded, and more in control. EMDR is recognised worldwide as an effective treatment for trauma, anxiety, depression, and a range of other difficulties. Sessions are structured, collaborative, and paced safely, helping you move towards lasting change.
